
Social Communication – Journalism group visits Univision headquarters in the United States
To learn about current journalistic work, content management processes in this new era, and technological implementation, a delegation from the of Social Communication - Journalism Faculty, led by Dean Luz Amalia Camacho, visited the Univision chain in the United States, at two of its main venues, dedicated to sports and news, located in the city of Miami.
The tour included a detailed explanation of the digital transformation experience, the changes in traditional newsrooms, and their migration towards the development of content offering audiences digital experiences and allowing the chain, to strengthening their brand in all platforms.
During their visit, they saw, first hand, the Univisión Noticias headquarters, which has a single writing space, consisting of an extensive area where content is generated for traditional television, radio, and a digital team responsible for generating and diversifying formats and themes “An important aspect that caught my attention was the change in concepts. A few years ago, the most important thing in production was the acquisition of big brands of cameras and equipment; now the focus is the development of software facilitating users’ visualization through technological devices of virtual information in real time,” states Faculty Professor Clara Marcela Mejía, who joined the visiting group.
This visit is part of Social Communication-Journalism Faculty technological implementation process, which includes adaptation of the University spaces and the acquisition of new technology for the creation and experimentation of audiovisual content for undergraduate, specializations, and masters programs.
