The UK is intrinsically linked to the music that it produces. World-renowned artists such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the Sex Pistols and Queen among many others have made an important mark in the world’s culture and it is impossible to ignore their influence. This talk will examine the social context of many popular bands as well as looking at how genres have evolved over the years and what influence they have had. Central to the talk is the question, “why has such a tiny country been so prolific in creating so many important bands?”

Speaker: Phil Stoneman
