Course: “Digital applications in the second language classroom”
Technology has become a key ally for teaching and has opened the doors to new educational uses allowing teachers and students to become more effective in the teaching-learning process.
Within the framework of this digital revolution, the Externado Spanish for Foreigners Center – CEPEX – has designed the course “Digital applications in the second language classroom,” an opportunity for foreign language teachers, students completing their last semesters studies, and languages or related fields graduates, to learn about the technological tools available for teaching languages and the educational trends in this field. Additionally, students will acquire the tools needed to plan, manage, and evaluate collaborative digital activities.
Professor Francisco Herrera, PhD in Hispanic Philology from the University of Granada, will offer the course. Herrera began teaching Spanish as a foreign language in 1991 and, since then, has served as Director of studies and director of language schools. Currently, he directs the Click International House of Cadiz.
For the past ten years, he has directed a journal for Spanish teachers, in podcast format, and publishes in various blogs on teacher training and its relationship with technology and the learning processes gamification.
He currently coordinates the International House (formacionele.com) online platform for teachers and is the creator of the Federation of Associations of Schools of Spanish (FEDELE) and the Association of Spanish Schools in Andalusia (EEA). He has just published, as editor, the book “La formación del profesorado de español: innovación y reto” in the “Cuadernos de didáctica” collection.
