Course: “Digital applications in the second language classroom”
Technology has become a key ally for teaching and has opened the doors to new educational uses allowing teachers and students to become more effective in the teaching-learning process.
In the framework of the digital revolution, the Spanish Centre for Foreigners—CEPEX of Externado, has designed a course “Making use of digital tools in the second language classrooms”, an opportunity so that foreign language professors, students in the final semesters and alumni of languages or related fields know about the available technological tools for the teaching languages and the educational trends in this field. Likewise, students will acquire necessary tools for planning, managing and evaluating digitally collaborative activities.
Professor Francisco Herrera, doctor in Hispanic Philosophy from the Universidad de Granada will be in charge of teaching the course. Herrera began teaching Spanish as a foreign language in 1991 and, since then, he has performed as the head of studies and director of language schools. At this moment he is currently directing the Clic International House of Cadiz.
For the last ten years, he has directed the journal in podcast format for professors of Spanish and publishes on a variety of blogs regarding the formation of professors and their relation with technology and the processes of game-based learning.
He currently coordinates the online platform for professors of International House (formacionele.com) and is in charge of the training of the Federation of Spanish Schools (FEDELE) and of the Association of Spanish Schools of Andalucia (EEA). He published a book as editor called “La formación de profesorado de español –The training of Spanish professors: innovation and challenges”, in the collection “Cuadernos de didáctica–Notebooks on didactics”.
The course will begin on April 29 and finish on June 1.
