Analysis of the Proposed Bill establishing a Convergent Regulator
Date: 16 of november
Time: 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
Place: D-604 (Auditorio)
The Externado de Colombia University Telecommunications Law Department invites to the meeting on November 16, 2017.
One of the recommendations included in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) 2014 study in the field of telecommunications was to review the current audiovisual and telecommunications institutional model in Colombia, and the need to create a convergent regulatory body in response to the regulatory convergence phenomenon, as the last stage of the process, once Colombia completes the technological and business convergence.
The academic event will study the decision by the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies to file, October 17, 2017, the proposed Law 174 of 2017 before the Sixth Committee of the House of Representatives. The Bill introduces a new organizational model in which the current Communications Regulation Committee will be converted into a Communications Committee, as the regulatory body for the ICT and Television sectors in Colombia.
The meeting seeks to publicize the scope of the proposed law, review compared experiences, and examine other aspects that should be included to be able to discuss a regulatory convergence, from institutional and normative points of view.
