Externadista awarded the Alejandro Ángel Escobar National Prize

Researcher Ana Milena Coral Díaz was the winner in the Social Sciences category of the prize awarded annually by the Alejandro Ángel Escobar Foundation.

Ana Milena Coral Díaz is a Law graduate with a Specialization in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from our House of Studies, with a Master’s in Anthropology (Uniandes) and Law PhD (Universidad del Rosario).  She obtained the award for her work titled “Female body in transition. The construction of the female body in the legal discourse of ad hoc criminal tribunals, the International Criminal Court, and the Law of Justice and Peace in Colombia.”

The researcher’s work focused, primarily, on contrasting what is found in legal texts as a legal discourse of transitional justice and what can be considered the actual experience of women during the socio-political and armed conflicts.

Currently, Ana Milena Coral works as an independent researcher and resides in the city of Cali.

The Alejandro Ángel Escobar Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote and disseminate scientific research in Colombia.
