Maite Mariño Thompson

Maite, born in Bogotá to an American mother and Colombian father, spent her early years in Colombia. Later, she moved to Seattle, Washington, where she finished high school. She then earned a BA in Liberal Arts with a multicultural studies focus at Evergreen State College.
Afterward, Maite obtained a Management Skills Specialization from the University of Washington and worked with an NGO before returning to Bogotá. She transitioned to a career as an English teacher after earning a CELTA certification from Cambridge Assessment.
In 2017, she completed her MA in Educational Leadership at the University of Roehampton in London, UK. Since January 2006, Maite has been with Externado University, where she started as an English teacher and later became a language coordinator. She currently serves as the director of the Center for Languages and Culture.
Outside of work, Maite enjoys horseback riding, hiking the maintains for Colombia and the world, cooking, and spending time with family.
Maite, nacida en Bogotá de madre estadounidense y padre colombiano, pasó sus primeros años en Colombia. Más tarde, se mudó a Seattle, Washington, donde complete el bachillerato. Realizó sus estudios de pregrado en Evergreen State College. en Artes Liberales con un enfoque en estudios multiculturales.
Posteriormente, Maite obtuvo una Especialización en Habilidades de Gestión de la Universidad de Washington y trabajó en una ONG antes de regresar a Bogotá. Luego, como parte de su rubo laboral trabajo como profesora de inglés después de obtener la certificación CELTA de Cambridge Assessment.
En 2017, completó su Maestría en Liderazgo Educativo en la Universidad de Roehampton en Londres, Reino Unido. Desde enero de 2006, Maite ha trabajado en la Universidad Externado, donde comenzó como profesora de inglés y se convirtió en coordinadora de idiomas. Actualmente, se desempeña como directora del Centro de Idiomas y Cultura. En su tiempo libre, a Maite le gusta montar a caballo, hacer senderismo en las montañas de Colombia y del mundo, cocinar y pasar tiempo en familia
