Exhibit – 50 years of education as a practice for freedom

The exhibition combined a rich photographic archive on the training, internationalization, and social projection processes developed by the Faculty.

In August 2019, at our House of Studies’ Library, the exposition “50 years of education as a practice for freedom” was presented to the Externadista community to recall the work carried out by the Education Sciences Faculty.

The exhibit also featured representative pieces of the research developed by its deans and professors, since its inception in 1969.

Located in the Library’s Historical Archive Showcase, this remembrance was open to the public from August 15 to September 7, 2019.

The “50 years of education as a practice for freedom” display was possible thanks to the research and curatorship by Martha Liliana Jiménez Cardona, Sandra Patricia Arévalo Ramírez, and Marco Antonio Feria Uribe (Education Sciences Faculty). Also, the museum work carried out by Carlos González and William Gamboa (Museology area); the general coordination by Carol Contreras Suárez (Library) and the support of Adalgiza Barandica Cañón (Communications Office), and Juan Camilo Rodríguez (Externado de Colombia University History Project).

In commemorating its 50th anniversary, the Education Sciences Faculty reiterates its belief that education and, in particular, teacher training, constitutes a fundamental engine for the social transformation Colombia requires in the 21st century.
