Externado professor honored by the Spanish government

Oscar DaOscar Darío Amaya Navas was recognized for his long academic career, dedicated to the research and teaching of environmental issues.

Oscar Darío Amaya Navas, professor-researcher and founder of the Externado Environmental Law Department, was awarded, by the Ambassador of Spain in Colombia, the Alfonso X el Sabio Civil Order, in the Encomienda con Placa category, as stipulated by Order dated June 19, 2019, by the Spanish Minister of Education and Vocational Training.

This order was established in 1939 by the Kingdom of Spain to recognize work performed in the fields of education, teaching, and research.

The honor is awarded on the merits obtained by Amaya throughout his academic career, with over 25 years dedicated to research and teaching of the legal and constitutional perspective of environmental issues.

The proposal to enter the Order is the result of the initiative by Antonio Embid Irujo, Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, also a member of this distinguished Order.
