Economic Law Conference 2021 - The “new” globalization

The Externado de Colombia University Economic Law Department invites undergraduate students from national or international universities to submit essays within the framework of the Economic Law Conference to be held on September 1 and 2, 2021.

This competition seeks to provide a space for students interested in economic law to share their research advances with the academic community.

The essay must be unpublished and may be presented individually or in pairs. If selected by the panel of judges, the authors will exhibit their works through a poster (in case of face-to-face sessions), a presentation via Zoom, or videos created in advance by the students and revealed to the public during the Conference.

Competition awards:

First place: A collection of five different books on Economic Law

Second place: A collection of four different books on Economic Law

Third place: A collection of three different books on Economic Law

The best three essays may be submitted to the Con-texto journal to consider their publication in the special issue of the 2021 Economic Law Conference.

Students submitting essays will be able to attend all the Economic Law Conference 2021 events at no cost.

Essay Themes:

According to the Economic Law Conference’s central theme (The “new” globalization), the essays should pertain to one of the following themes.

  1. The new role of regulation.
  2. The impact of technological disruption.
  3. Challenges in competition and consumer matters.
  4. International problems related to the pandemic.
  5. Challenges of the right to health and food safety.
  6. Public services.

Communication on Essay Summary Acceptance Results May 24, 2021
Final essay submission ** July 30, 2021
Communication of selected essays to participate in the Economic Law Conference August 16, 2021
Best essays awards September 2, 2021

* The abstract must contain the following elements:

  1. Suggested essay title
  2. Authors’ names and affiliations
  3. A preliminary explanation, 500 words maximum, including enough information on the intended subject to be addressed in the essay and allow its evaluation for inclusion in the Conference agenda.

** The final essay must meet the following style and presentation requirements.

  1. Arial Narrow 12 font, one and a half-space
  2. A minimum of 3,000 words and a maximum of 10,000, including footnotes, bibliography, and annexes.
  3. The document must contain a general title (in Spanish and English), and all subtitles must be numbered.
  4. An abstract, between 100 and 250 words, must be included in Spanish and English.  Keywords between 3 and 5 maximum.
  5. The essay must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) citation system.
  6. The original essay language can be Spanish or English.
