An established poet and a young poet
The Cultural Decanatura introduced “Arde Babel,” Book No. 135 of the “Un Libro por Centavos” Collection, written by the young poet, Camila Charry. The anthology was selected and prepared by recognized poet Juan Manuel Roca.
Fifteen years ago, the Externado Cultural Decanatura wanted to spread the work by different poets, a decentralized project, by fostering authors from different regions of the country, all with different styles but united by their love to communicate by poetry.
This year, within the 15-year celebration of the cultural work that is so important for the University and the country, the Decanatura wished to promote works by young poets, especially female poets, in their Collection.
At the book presentation, Juan Manuel Roca, Colombian poet, Honoris Causa from the Universidad del Valle, highlighted Camila’ work: “It has been a long time since a poem so touched me.
Clara Arango, Cultural Decanatura general coordinator, mentioned the collection is very personal, seeking to come close to the poets while respecting their writing and communication styles.
Camila Charry read a few of her poems, and the audience, curious and attentive, asked about the stories inspiring her to write poems. With shyness, and also laughter, she talked about her stories and motivations.
This edition of the Collection reached 8,000 copies. With this work, the University, through the Cultural Decanatura has established itself as a reference for all poets, who admire the flawless task of disseminating poetry in remote areas of the country.
