Este libro se planteó como interrogante central: ¿qué factores sociohistóricos contribuyeron al nacimiento de la carrera de Contaduría Pública de la Universidad Externado de Colombia, en el contexto de la modernización del campo contable en Colombia (1960-1990)? El término factores sociohistóricos significa no solo las causas objetivas -sociales y económicas, que propiciaron ese nacimiento, en el contexto general la evolución sociohistórica del campo contable colombiano, sino también, de forma específica, las dinámicas propias de la profesión contable, en relación con el espíritu liberal del Externado que hunde sus raíces en el último cuarto del siglo XIX.

Perceptions, images and emotions towards the European Union (EU) in Latin America: between admiration and resentment

This article analyzes perceptions, images and emotions felt towards the European Union (EU) in three Latin American countries: Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. Mobilizing Fernand Braudel ’s tri-partite paradigm of historical temporalities (the longue durée, histoire conjuncture and micro histoire), we examine how colonial pasts color emotive assessments of the EU in the longue durée; how intensified European integration during and after the Cold War impacted on European Communities (EC)/EU images of a model of regional integration and of an alternative to the United States in histoire conjuncture.
