Acrylic, polyethylene bags, objects found on the beach of Bocagrande, Tumaco
70 X 35 in

A series of objects stored in plastic bags and arranged in rows show the variety of items the artist randomly collected during a walk along the beaches of Bocagrande in Tumaco. The use of the objet trouvé or found object—typical of modern and contemporary artistic practices—serves as a mechanism to highlight the amount of rubbish and industrial waste found in natural environments. In doing so, the work challenges current consumption dynamics and the footprint of a globalised world facing a climate emergency, driven by neglect for nature conservation. The piece questions the guarantee of the rights to health, environmental sanitation, and public services entrusted to the State, as established in Article 49 of the Colombian Constitution.
