Handmade embroidery on cotton canvas

The artist embroiders, onto handwoven cotton produced by the Guane Indigenous people, a quote from “Memorias de Hacienda, 1847” by Florentino González, then Secretary of the Treasury of the Government of New Granada. The excerpt describes the economic approach applied to the regions in the 19th century, as well as the still-prevalent practice of exporting raw materials to major European markets. The work offers a reflection on Article 334 of the Constitution, which assigns the State the responsibility for directing the economy and ensuring the well-being of all citizens, particularly rural and ethnic communities.
