This small roofless house, without windows, made of neatly arranged bricks and painted white and blue, is one of nine models representing the before, during, and after of forced displacement in Colombia. The artist worked with three families—indigenous, Afro-descendant, and rural peasants in exile—who rebuilt their lives and dream homes through these spaces. The work calls attention to Article 51 of the Constitution, which recognises the right to decent housing, especially amid conflict and violence that have perpetuated rural and urban displacement due to the State’s ineffectiveness.
