The work presents a chilling panorama linking death with democracy. In the background, amid grey clouds, the National Capitol—the centre and symbol of political representation—appears timidly. In the foreground, Bolívar Square, another civic emblem, is bathed in blood. In the 1980s, four presidential candidates were assassinated; in 2019, a genocide was unleashed against a political party, and 53 candidates for various public offices fell victim to violence. In this context, the piece explores security and guarantees for peaceful, violence-free deliberation. Sierra seems to ask: Are there conditions for the full implementation of Title VI of the Political Constitution regarding the functioning and composition of the legislative branch?
