This course will allow you to strengthen your communicative skills using the English language while you come closer to some of the great romances in the history of the world and analyze how they could have influenced history. Come and join us to learn more about “love”.
This English workshop’s primary objective is to provide participants with different linguistic tools that will allow them to develop their communication skills in the English language. For this reason, there will be multiple activities in the progression of the workshop, distributed for each session. This is how the participants will have the opportunity to read and listen about, as well as to analyze, the historical moments around the chosen grand romances. They will also be able to enjoy some videos and movies that will help them to understand the events and circumstances around each romance.
We will cover six (6) romances throughout the 16 weeks of academic work: Cleopatra – Cesar, Cleopatra – Marco Antonio, Isabel de Castilla – Fernando de Aragón, Napoleon – Josephine, Simón Bolivar – Manuela Saenz, Hitler – Eva Braun. In addition to learning about the history and story behind each romance, students will pick up the historical framework related to the era in which each love affair occurred. The goal of that is to analyze whether human emotions affect and/or interfere not only with the political but also the personal decisions of its most influential participants.
