The Master in Economics is aimed at those professionals who wish to deepen the theories and empirical techniques most used in modern economics and who wish to advance their skills related to social research, particularly in economic research. Although the master’s degree curriculum is aimed at recent professionals in Economics, we have leveled courses (not contained in the curriculum) that offer a solid master’s entry training to those professionals from disciplines other than economics or those professionals in Economics who require previous courses before taking the core of the program.
Graduates of the Master of Economics will be familiar with the concepts, theories, and empirical tools of modern economic science at an advanced level and will have the ability to integrate the methods and concepts of economics with those of the other social sciences. Thanks to the above, they will be able to carry out research projects with empirical content, independently or within research teams. In addition, professionals may communicate the results of their research in a formal or informative manner.
Graduates will have the tools to begin to chart a career as economics teachers and researchers. It is also expected that graduates of the master’s program will have good conditions to present themselves as candidates for first-line doctoral programs abroad.
In addition, master’s graduates will have the knowledge and skills to perform in any field of work that requires the application of research competencies, particularly in economic research. For example, in activities such as the formulation and analysis of public policies and economic consulting.
In all cases, graduates are expected to make an ethical and professional commitment to the country and society.
