La Universidad Externado is recognized as one of the innovative universities in 2021

Universidad Externado de Colombia was rank at 101 - 200 in the World Universities with Real Impact (WURI) ranking in the crisis management category.

The World Universities with Real Impact (WURI) ranking was developed in 2019 by the Hanseatic League of Universities as a ranking system for higher education institutions, which evaluates the real contributions of higher education institutions to society. In doing so, the ranking focuses on the assessment of creative and innovative approaches to research and university education.

In this, its third edition, top universities such as Harvard University, Oxford University, Université Aix-Marseille, University of Twente, among other higher education institutions, participated. In the case of Latin America, only three institutions were ranked, including Universidad Externado.

The WURI ranking includes five different categories, from which universities choose one or several to present good practices that have generated a positive impact not only on the academic community but also on society in general:

  • Industrial applications.
  • Value creation and entrepreneurship.
  • Social responsibility, ethics, and integrity.
  • Student mobility and openness.
  • Crisis management.

In the case of our House of Studies, it was chosen to participate in the category of crisis management, considering the actions that were implemented at the University during 2020, on issues of digital education, student welfare, alumni support, and internationalization, concerning what was generated by the global pandemic of Covid – 19.

Thus, in this first participation in the ranking, the Externado was rank 101-200, among 300 universities evaluated. Likewise, in the specific ranking for universities that presented their practices in the crisis management category, the University was rank 51-100.
