Agreement with the Spanish Maritime Institute
The Externado Mining Energy Law Department coordinated the academic agreement between the two institutions.
The purpose of the Agreement is to collaborate in student and teacher mobility and promote joint research activities and publications. In particular, the agreement is aimed at regulating the participation of the two institutions in the international certification in “Renewable Energy Law and Business,” to train the sector’s actors in energy regulation and business aspects.
The Spanish Maritime Institute was created in 1984 by a group of maritime professionals to meet the existing training needs in maritime activity. Since then, the Spanish Maritime Institute (IME) has developed multiple training programs in the maritime field, and at various levels, such as master’s programs, monographic, and in-company courses, among others.
In 1985, The Spanish Maritime Institute diversified its activities to include consulting, publications, e-commerce, and inspections. In 2000, the Institute began its online training programs. Recently, the IME was established as a business group, through a company named Shipping Business Center. It is the first business center specifically for the maritime sector. It intends to facilitate maximum business development for all maritime organizations, and also, organize an Ibero-American cluster (mainly with Chilean companies).
