Externado Group, winner of the local “P&G CEO Challenge”

The Procter & Gamble (P&G) Company launched a global competition, the “P&G CEO Challenge,” to challenge the world’s university students to create innovative and sustainable solutions focused on business strategy and real-life problem-solving.

Natalia Chinchilla, Valentina Bañol, and Ángela Alfaro, eighth-semester Finance and International Relations students, represent the Externado de Colombia University in this competition.

The process began with a knowledge test with over five hundred participating groups in Colombia. Our students advanced to the second round, where they had to develop a video displaying a sustainable packaging proposal for Oral-B toothpastes. The video was produced in three cities in Colombia – Pereira, Cúcuta, and Bogotá – as they were in their home cities due to the pandemic. This, however, did not impede them from developing quality work, allowing them to reach the country’s finals rounds.

A week later, they were notified by P&G Colombia that they were among the four national finalist teams. At the finals, held virtually on January 25, 2021, the young Externadistas had the opportunity to share with the company’s regional and national leaders. At the event, each team developed a presentation on their innovative packaging proposal.  The Externado group was the national round winner; their idea was different from the rest in terms of design, social and environmental awareness, and fully developing the activity’s objectives.

At this time, the group representing Colombia is preparing for the regional round on March 4 and 5, 2021. Of course, they hope to bring victory to their country and their university.
