ICAPA awards our Government and International Relations Program full international accreditation
It is the first Public Administration and related fields undergraduate program in America and the second in the world to be accredited by the ICAPA.
The School of Finance, Government and International Relations obtained the highest, “6 full years” international accreditation, awarded by the International Commission on Accreditation of Public Administration Education and Training Programs –ICAPA – after a meticulous evaluation process carried out in October 2018.
After months of preparation, a three-day visit to the campus by academic peers, and numerous activities involving students, teaching faculty, alumni, and administrators, on February 5, 2019, it was announced that this was the first Public Administration and related fields program in the Americas, and the second in the world, to obtain international accreditation from the ICAPA.
ICAPA is the only body certified to award this type of accreditation at the international level, based on the standards set by the United Nations Public Administration and Development Management Department. The rating scale starts at three years with comments, followed by three full years, six years with comments, and six full years. In our case, the Government and International Relations program obtained the highest classification in the first assessment by the accreditation institution.
The ICAPA assures the academic programs meet the following standards: commitment to public service; valuation of collective interest; combination of academia, practice, and community service; praise by the academic community and teaching faculty; social inclusion; purposive and relevant curricula; availability of necessary resources, and balance between collaboration and academic competency.
