Health, a priority in Colombia: Proposal of the Second Edition of TEDxUExternado

The TED format talks, understandable, clear, dynamic, concise, and even fun, in the hands of expert speakers on health-related issues, understood from multiple outlooks and perspectives, will analyze the role of health in Colombia and why it must become a priority for citizens and decision makers.

Committed to academic growth and joint construction of knowledge, the different Externado faculties, the University Well-Being, and Admissions Departments, invite students and graduates from all undergraduate and graduate programs, teaching faculty, and researchers, to participate in the second edition of TEDxUExternado.

The proposal is to analyze an issue that concerns all citizens alike and frequently, is a media headline subject in our country.  The issue of health, its role within the State, and the task of making it a priority for Colombia will be analyzed and explored by experts on the subject.

The event features six experts as guest speakers (former Ministers, private company directors, public officials, and also, a professional actress and dancer). The speakers will address the health issue from the three dimensions proposed by the World Health Organization: physical health, mental health, and social health. Additionally, Augusto Galán, former Colombia Minister of Health, will introduce the event.

TEDxUExternado Pr1oridades will be held August 14, 2018, at the Auditorium, Building I, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. We hope to count on the participation of the academic community in this event that surely will deliver attention-grabbing conclusions and open doors for further discussion in the classroom.
