Externado will participate in the Regional Meeting of Museum Public Policies

The Regional Meeting, featuring experts from Chile, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia will be held May 30 and May 31, 2018.

The meeting has the goal to review and discuss the results of museum public policies adopted by some Latin America Governments, and thus, build a comparative picture of the region.

Our guests will share their experiences on the creation and implementation of these policies in their countries and will present a summary of the contents and implementation results. In this way, seeking to open a space for debate to broaden reflection on ideological assumptions, methodological, technical, and budgetary tools, based on which national and regional actions have been established in the museology sector to advance the participation process by different stakeholders.

The event dynamics will allow active participation by attendees, including professionals from various sectors – members of the International Council of Museums-Colombia (ICOM); public and private sector museum professionals; museology, and cultural heritage management students, and individuals involved in the cultural sector.

The meeting, at the Colonial Museum, is organized by ICOM Colombia and ICOM Peru with support from the Externado Cultural Heritage Studies Faculty, the Universidad Nacional Master’s in Museology and Heritage Management Program, and the International Council of Museums.

The event is free of charge for ICOM members and students of the Universidad Nacional Master’s in Museology and the Externado de Colombia Cultural Heritage Studies programs. For private individuals, the cost to attend is 30,000 pesos.
