Discussion seminar: Administrative thought on the Public Ministry

The Administrative Law Research Group invites the academic community to the fifth session of its Seminar on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

On this occasion, Dr. Miguel Malagón Pinzón, Universidad de los Andes Professor, will offer the conference “Administrative thought on the Public Ministry.” The talk will address the core aspects of his postdoctoral research carried out at the Externado de Colombia University, reflected in his eponymous work, published in 2017.

In his presentation, Dr. Malagón Pinzón talks about the origin of the Public Ministry in Colombia, emphasizing the performance by Florentino González as the first democratically elected Procurator in the country. Also, he will analyze the 1945-1991 constitutional reforms and their impact on the Public Ministry.

Additionally, the evolution of Administrative Law and Administrative Science in the 19th and 20th centuries in Colombia will be reviewed, transversally, through the roles of the Attorney General and the Personerías. Lastly, the speaker will examine the Latin American Administrative Law and the role of the Public Ministry in its development.
