Peace in the territory: local power and post-conflict in Colombia

The Externado Constitutional Law Department, the Extremadura Agency for International Development Cooperation (AEXCID), and the Extremadura Center for Studies and Cooperation with Ibero-America (CEXESI) invite to the international seminar “Peace in the territory: local power and post-conflict in Colombia.”

The event, featuring participation by national and international experts, will center on one of the greatest challenges of the Havana peace agreement: ‘territorialize peace.’ The objective is to analyze the territorial peace approach through two major elements – the development and strengthening of State institutions in the Colombian territories, and greater citizen participation, so citizens’ view the peacebuilding efforts as their own.

The meeting will be divided into five main themes – Existing real territory: types of territory occupation and local organization in the conflict areas; Local development, as a guarantee for peace; Public investment for peace and local funding; Importance of the local, and peace processes collaboration between levels of Government; and, the peace agreement impact on the Colombian territorial order.
