Forum: 20 years of Law 388 of 1997
II International Congress on Public Goods and Territorial Planning

On the twentieth anniversary of this Law, the Administrative Law Research Group on Law, Territory, and Local Government invites the academic community to this meeting.

The event will be held within the framework of the II International Congress on Public Goods and Territorial Planning on Monday, October 30, and Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Externado de Colombia University.

Despite the remarkable regional planning progress in Colombia with the issuance of Law 388 of 1997, a global reflection is required on its instruments, procedures, and evolution in a scenario filled with challenges, such as those inherent in territory planning in Colombia. These include improving the quality of life in rural areas, environmental protection, disaster prevention, housing, the defense of public space and cultural heritage, infrastructure, among others.

In light of the above, a debate will be held with participation by experts from the Academia, the Administration, and the private sector, to present an assessment of the results of the Law’s application, as well as its main challenges today and in the immediate future.
