Launching of the Exvotos digital catalog – the exhibition says goodbye to the library
Date: 23 of february of 2018
Time: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Place: Salón 2, Biblioteca
The event features participation by María Eugenia Trujillo and the Cleopatras, of the Egypt District, who will resolve concerns about their creations. Admission to the event is free.
On February 23, 2018, at the closing of the Exvotos exhibit, a publication comprising texts, photographs, and reflections surrounding the artistic works of María Eugenia Trujillo, and the Cleopatras of the Bogotá Egypt District, will be launched.
“This launching is an opportunity to make a memory of one of the richest samplings of social equity the library has ever had,” adds Carol Contreras Suárez, editorial coordinator of the catalog.
Since September 2017, when the exhibit opened to the public, over 30 visitors agreed it is a moving experience, inviting to understand gender-based violence and recognize women’s immense creative power.
It is worth noting the exhibit questions the archetypes, habits, prejudices, and cultural behaviors facilitating the violation of women’s human rights, intensified in the armed conflict, and supplements a constitutional reflection on the country’s current situation relating to the contribution of art in the resignification of painful occurrences.
The launching will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, at the Library, Room 2, and will also include the last guided visit by María Eugenia and the Cleopatras, who will resolve concerns about their creations or Exvotos, constructed from various materials such as aromatic herbs, plants, used bullets, snails, popular wools, wax and cloth dolls, and a hundred words.
