New agreement to strengthen academic training in Underwater Cultural Heritage

An agreement was entered into by the Colombian Institute of Anthropology and History (ICANH) and our University.

Within the framework of the agreement, the ICAHN opens a Training Stimuli Call covering full tuition for five students of the first cohort of the Specialization in Underwater Cultural Heritage, which will begin in April 2019.

Training incentives are part of the special cooperation agreement between the ICAHN and the Externado. The objective is to support and contribute to the training of Colombian professionals specialized in the study, protection, and dissemination of the cultural heritage lying in the region’s aquatic territories.

The signing of the agreement is an affirmation of the institutions’ desire to contribute to the strengthening of Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) professional competencies in Colombia. The Specialization is conceived as a space for discussion and education, with an interdisciplinary perspective, in which recognized international professionals will provide the coordination of multiple UCH areas of knowledge.

Directed to:

Professionals in various areas of knowledge interested in focusing their knowledge and skills in the study, protection, and dissemination of Underwater Cultural Heritage. According to the requirements, students may take one of the three emphases proposed in the curriculum: Underwater Archaeology, UCH Management and Evaluation, and UCH Conservation and Restoration.

The Training Stimuli consists of financial backing for the full tuition cost of the graduate program, to be held in Bogotá and Cartagena de Indias, starting in April 2019.
