A Cuban production featured at the Externadista Cinema Club

In the second semester of 2017, the Interdisciplinary Studies Institute presents, in its Externadista Cinema Club, a series of films with an “Urban Life” theme. This cycle comprises 15 important national and international full-length features and short films. The theme is addressed by a journey through the history of cinema.

To analyze these productions, in their artistic and historical context, film critic and cinema professor, Mauricio Laurens, introduces the films and provides discussion parameters.

The Club meets on Thursdays, 3:00 pm, at the Library, Virtual Room.

Our next session, August 17, 2017, features the Cuban film, La muerte de un burócrata, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.  This movie, released in 1966, is a satire of the Cuban bureaucracy experienced in the country between 1953 and 1959.
