Otello Opera at the Externado

Giuseppe Verdi's Opera Otello, to a libretto by Arrigo Boito, is based on the play of the same name, created by English playwright William Shakespeare.

Date: October 02, 2019
Time: 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Venue: Building H, Auditorium 1

This story gradually shows the fall of a great man, Otello, due to the jealousy and manipulation of his trusted man, Iago. The work contains musical moments of great beauty, such as the Willow Song and the Hail Mary, the imposing choirs that open the opera, and, of course, the Otello monologues.

Its premiere in Milan in 1887 was a resounding success. Verdi, the author of great works such as La Traviata, Aída, and Rigoletto, was once again acclaimed as one of the great men of history theater. Otello, in our time, remains one of the most loved and performed operas in the world.

On October 2, 2019, the “Fernando Hinestrosa Friends of the Opera Club” will broadcast this work, making us live great moments with a performance from La Scala in Milan, the lyrical temple of the world, with Placido Domingo in the role of the Venetian Moor.

Free admission.
