Accounting and Management: a look from an intangible viewpoint

On April 27, 2017, the Externado Public Accounting Faculty will hold the first meeting of national and international speakers to discuss challenges in this field.

The Public Accounting Faculty and its research unit invite the entire academic community to the first “Accounting and Management” international event, featuring participation by various experts.

This time, the discussion will be on intangibles, those assets which, due to their intangible nature, generate discussions, studies, and research on how to record them. The forum will discuss how, for example, the value of a brand, employees’ knowledge, and a company’s ideology may be physically measured, taking into account they generate financial benefits for organizations.

To answer questions on this issue, the key speaker is Katy Herrera Lemus, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences and  Master in Administration and Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas (Cuba. Dr.  Herrera is currently Director and researcher of the Center for Studies of Management Techniques and Professor at the University of Havana. Her professional publications include 49 scientific articles, three research books, and 97 lectures.

Also participating is Mónica Colins Salgado, Ph.D. in Gender Studies, Ph.D. in Management from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro; Master in Corporate Finances, and Economics professional.  Currently, she is a Professor and Researcher at the Externado de Colombia University.

Speakers also include Alejandro Ortiz Boada, Ph.D. in Psychology and Business Administration, who has over 17 years of teaching experience.  Presently, he works at the Externado University and, as a researcher, has focused on University and Sustainability, Matter and Energy Management, and Innovation Value Chain.

Another recognized guest is Ricardo Vásquez Bernal, Certified Public Accountant, Master in Economics and Finance from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has served as Director of the Financial Superintendent’s Office, Vice- General Accountant of the Nation; President of the Public Accounting Technical Council; member of the Permanent Council of Accounting Standards; World Bank consultant; Dean of Public Accounting at the Javeriana University; MEGABANK  Comptroller Vice-President; and Comptroller at multinational enterprises, among other positions.
