The SIP/CLAEP Diploma in Journalism, of which the School of Social Communication – Journalism is a part, has successfully started
On Saturday, August 28, the virtual Diploma in Digital Journalism of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) and the Latin American Council for the Accreditation of Education in Journalism (CLAEP) began, which includes 8 accredited Communication and Journalism programs in Latin America, among them, the program in Social Communication - Journalism of the Universidad Externado.
Under the title “Discovering the Secrets of Journalism”, the SIP/CLAEP diploma course will run until April 2022. It is a certified diploma course for young journalists taught by Latin American university professors and accompanied by case studies presented by media executives.
The Inter American Press Association awarded scholarships to 30 young journalists from digital media in the region. At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate issued by the eight universities, CLAEP and SIP. In addition to the Universidad Externado de Colombia, the other universities involved in this first diploma course are: Universidad Católica Argentina, from Argentina; Universidad del Rosario, Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, Universidad de La Sabana, from Colombia; Universidad Hemisferios, from Ecuador and Universidad Anáhuac and Universidad Iberoamericana, from Mexico.
The curriculum includes modules on journalism as an essential activity, narrative journalism, literary journalism, new narratives, audiences and challenges of public opinion research applied to networks, journalistic research for audiovisual platforms, data journalism and entrepreneurial journalism.
