
Criminal Policy Congress: Challenges in overcoming the unconstitutional penitentiary state of affairs and criticism on excessive criminalization
The Externado de Colombia University Criminal Policy Research Center, together with the Latin American Institute for Crime Prevention and Justice – Ilanud -, invite to this event.
The Congress will have participation by professors from different universities and regions of the country. From an interdisciplinary perspective, they will discuss their research on the construction of public policy proposals to surmount the unconstitutional penitentiary state of affairs and guarantee a more humane, minimal, and restorative criminal policy.
The event features conferences by experts and four (4) workshops or roundtables in which the general public may participate.
The workshops will address the following topics:
- Peacebuilding, restorative justice, and JEP sanctions
- Deprivation of freedom, prison overcrowding, and restorative justice.
- Interculturality and justice.
- Freedom, excessive criminalization, and prison crisis.
Also featured is the launching of the research book “Pluralismo jurídico y derechos humanos: perspectivas críticas desde la política criminal, corresponding to series 11 of the Criminal Policy Research Center and the fifth edition of the MOOC on Criminal Abolitionism.
