Library’s Top 5 for 2019

To begin 2019, the Externado Library announces its new developments benefiting the Externadista community. All with the goal of improving every day.

At number 5 we find 16 new interlibrary loan and reference agreements subscribed by the Library in Bogotá and which will be available for the beginning of classes (view the complete list here). Among the highlighted institutions, for their specialized content are the Biblioteca Especializada en Historia Política de Colombia – Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño; Centro de Apoyo a la Investigación Económica – CAIE Banco de la República de Colombia and LCI Bogotá, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.

In number 4 is the Update of the Materials Search Engine, available on the website soon, which will facilitate locating books and journals, in both hard copy and digital formats. The publications include materials published by the Externado and other publishers, as well as the 108 digital resources and 8 support resources obtained by the Library to provide high quality information to students, professors, and researchers, in all areas of knowledge and in different formats (articles, videos, case studies, among others).

Number 3 is the Expansion of the Library training team, with the addition of two new Library Science professionals (Karen Vargas and Cindy Sánchez), who will contribute their expertise to users’ training in the use of services, digital resources, and other useful tools for writing papers and articles, or enhancing researchers’ academic visibility. The team, now consisting of seven people, has been working on content reformulation, didactics, and evaluation methods to strengthen the Informational Skills Development Program which will introduce novelties throughout the year.

Number 2 on the list is the Specialized Training in Text Similarity Diagnosis – DST URKUND, offered by the Library to University thesis tutors-directors as an educational alternative for constructing quality content in an era where up-to-date and accurate information, as well as authors’ copyrights, are highly valued (view details of this service here).
