Consult and learn about the collection of 175 volumes of the Annals of the Council of State at the Externado Library.

What are the Annals of the Council of State? Article 18 of Law 60 of 1914 “provided for the creation of the Annals of the Council of State, a fortnightly periodical that was to serve as an organ for the dissemination of the activities of the jurisdictional and consultative order”. The work allows the consultation of rulings, orders, sentences, concepts or unification of jurisprudence and the jurisprudence of the chambers, full, consultation and civil service and contentious-administrative.

And what is the Council of State? The Council of State is the supreme court of the contentious-administrative jurisdiction and supreme advisory body of the National Government. It was created in 1817 by the liberator Simón Bolívar with the intention that “the important providences, laws, regulations or healthy instructions that must be published in the meantime for the administration and organization of the provinces already free or to be freed, be proposed, discussed and approved in an assembly that, by its number and by the dignity of those who compose it, deserve the public confidence” (Decree of creation of the Council of State. Angostura, October 30, 1817).

Currently, the Library’s collection is made up of 175 volumes. The chronological coverage begins with No. 1 of 1915 to No. 175 of 1999, with a periodicity initially fortnightly, then semiannually and in recent years, quarterly.

“On April 23, 2007, the Council of State announced the launch of the publication Boletín del Consejo de Estado, a monthly digital compilation containing the most important decisions issued by the chambers and sections of the corporation.

To date, 245 editions have been published uninterruptedly and are available for consultation on the entity’s website”. (Council of State. Bulletin No.1, 2007).

It is bound in black leather with gilded lettering, its consultation is exclusively in house.
