“Conocer dejando huella” opens 2019 Call

The “Conocer dejando huella” (Learning while leaving a mark) Volunteer Program invites students, from all Faculties, to participate in this training and community support endeavor.

To impact, positively, the lives of children, adolescents, and older adults of the Egypt District, specifically, from the recognition of their integrity as cultural subjects, with leadership, creative power, immense capabilities and possibilities associated with their cognition, expression, and imagination, the volunteers will work, in the first half of 2019, under the following stipulations:

Who can join the program?

• Active undergraduate students, of all Faculties, who have satisfactorily completed their second-semester studies.

• Active postgraduate students from all Faculties.

Requirements

• Commitment

• Have the time required to comply with the timetable and established schedules (the program allows up to three absences).

• Willingness to learn and guide reading, writing, and art activities with the target individuals (girls, boys, adolescents, and older adults).

2019 Schedule

Training and follow-up:

Every Tuesday, all semester, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

February 29 to May 14, 2019

Place: Room 1, Library, Externado de Colombia University

Field Support

Tuesday through Friday, 1:45 to 3:45 pm

Volunteers may choose one or more days for fieldwork, based on the schedule indicated.

Place: Egypt District Library or La Divina Providencia Nursing Home

Benefits

Volunteering is a training and personal growth tool, as the experience for competences guides its development. At the same time, volunteers are enriched through the contribution and approach to the communities, and where skills are improved and professional development is increased. At the end of the program, volunteers who successfully conclude the process will receive a certificate of their dedication of time, which may be beneficial in the search for scholarships abroad.
