Tourism and Hotel Administration Externadistas, Winners of the UNWTO SDG Global Startup Competition: Peace, Social Justice, and Strong Institutions

Four graduates of the University’s Tourism and Hotel Business Administration Faculty were part of the select work team that led the Colombian tourism company, Impulse Travel, to be one of the 25 tourism company winners of the 2021 SDGs Global Startup Competition, organized by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization).

Our House of Studies’ representatives were:

  • Paula Alejandra Duarte (2018)
  • Juan Sebastián Rodríguez (2016)
  • Diego Fernando Martínez (2020)
  • Enrique Pulido Uribe (2019)

The competition recognizes companies that provide successful solutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) from tourism. Impulse Travel, a sustainability and social impact leader, was the winner in the SDG # 16 category, “Peace, Social Justice and Solid Institutions.”

From over 10,000 proposals submitted to UNWTO globally, the jury selected 25 winners from 18 countries.

“The winners demonstrate the power of new ideas for transforming our sector. By embracing innovation, we can realize this potential and build a better future for people and the planet through tourism. I congratulate them all and look forward to seeing these startups grow and deliver positive change,” said UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili. (Source: Impulse Travel)

Our sincere congratulations to our graduates, who always hold high the name of our University and the Faculty.
